Typical applications of automatic weather observation systems include automatic weather stations and volunteer shipboard weather observation systems, where automatic weather stations are one of the main ways of observing weather data on land; shipboard observations are an important part of the three-dimensional monitoring of the marine environment. The multiple meteorological observations collected by the system play an important role in refining top views of global cloud cover distribution, refining meteorological systems and ocean variables obtained from satellites, and providing long-term observation records.
